The collection Braquenié by Bernardaud tells a wonderful story of French craftsmanship. It was born out of a collaboration between two iconic Houses: Pierre Frey and Bernardaud.
The idea is as original as it is sophisticated: to reproduce on porcelain patterns taken from two historic fabrics by Braquenié, Grand Corail and The Menagerie.
These patterns, created in the 19th century, are thus being given a new lease of life on porcelain. Large flowers, foliage and wild animals combine to create a rich and lavish design.
The Braquenié collection is characterised by its wealth of detail. The flowers appear to climb up long stems, whilst the animals mingle amongst the lush vegetation.
The colour scheme also lends a great deal of character to each room. The overall effect evokes the Indian longlines, these richly decorated fabrics which were already captivating connoisseurs of the good life in the 18th century.
