Testimony from Mrs Touzeau: between the 2003 G8 and the 2026 G7
In June 2026, in the run-up to the G7 summit to be held in the Lake Geneva region, the newspaper *Blick* spoke to several Geneva shopkeepers to hear their stories. Among them, Ms Monique Touzeau shared her experience, drawing on several decades spent at the heart of Geneva’s retail sector.
Having lived through the events of the 2003 G8 summit, she reflects on her memories of that period, which was marked by extensive security measures, and their impact on businesses in the city centre. Her account highlights the perspective of an experienced shopkeeper, deeply attached to Geneva and deeply involved in local economic life for many years.
Looking beyond current events, this presentation traces the history of a family-run business that has successfully navigated the city’s development, economic changes and major international events, whilst maintaining the same high standards of quality, customer focus and service for its clients.
