In October 1973, an article in the newspaper Le Progrès highlighted an exceptional cultural initiative by Mr and Mrs Touzeau, then owners of the Touzeau Cadeaux shop in Annemasse.
The exhibition, entitled «2000 years of French silverware», was held from 18 to 28 October in the salons of the Hôtel de Ville, and showcased the prestigious collections of the Bouilhet-Christofle museum.
The event was hailed for its contribution to the enhancement of France's artistic heritage, and for making available to the local public pieces of goldsmithery of rare beauty. Numerous VIPs, including Mr Galloni d'Istria, sub-prefect of Saint-Julien, and Mr Tony Bouilhet, director of Christofle, honoured the opening of this landmark exhibition with their presence.
This initiative, which is both cultural and educational, illustrates the Touzeau family's commitment to passing on know-how and timeless beauty.
